HARLOTTE, N.C. - The Brevard College men's soccer team (4-5-2) dropped a non-conference match to Johnson & Wales (11-0-2), 3-2 on Wednesday night in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Rocco Barbon and LaMont Young Jr. each scored for Brevard, facilitated by a career-high two assists coming from
Marcos Silva.

Trailing 1-0 after a JWU goal in the 16th minute, Barbon provided the first equalizer of the match nine minutes later with a finish off a well-served ball from Silva. For Barbon, it was the fourth goal of his season - the highest goal total in the career of the junior from Treviso, Italy.

The offensive pressure continued over the next few minutes resulting in a go-ahead goal by Young off another Silva assist just three minutes later. The goal marked the first varsity goal in the collegiate career of Young.

The assists from Silva were the first for the senior in a Tornado uniform.

The Wildcats however would answer with an equalizing goal of their own at the end of the first half.Â

Tied 2-2 at the half, JWU pulled ahead with its third goal of the contest, coming in the 53rd minute. The Wildcats held on from there as neither team scored in the final 37 minutes.

Johnson & Wales outshot Brevard 20-8 in the contest with an 11-4 advantage in shots-on-goal.Â

BC used 25 players in the non-conference affair.Â
Matheus Rossi and
Samuel Izquierdo split the goalkeeping duties with each keeper playing 45 minutes. Rossi registered six saves, while Izquierdo recorded two saves.Â

Brevard returns to action on Saturday in a key USA South Conference matchup at NC Wesleyan in Rocky Mount, North Carolina.
