ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. - The Brevard College men's soccer team (4-6-2, 2-1-1 USA South) dropped its first USA South Conference contest of the 2023 season as the Tornados fell 6-0 to North Carolina Wesleyan (6-5-2, 4-0-0 USAS) on Sunday afternoon in Rocky Mount, North Carolina.
The Battling Bishops exploded for six total goals - three scores in each half - and held Brevard without a goal for the shutout victory.
Brevard totaled three shot attempts on the afternoon, with Rocco Barbon, Igor da Silva, and Ryan Lynch all registering shots. Matheus Rossi and Samuel Izquierdo each saw action at goalkeeper for the Tornados.
Bastien Dechamps had a hat trick of goals for the hosts, while Tiago Feler and Pierre Leo each dished out two assists as four different Battling Bishops logged goals in the six-goal rout.
NCW had a commanding 14-3 shot advantage on the Tornados and the hosts dominated possession with eight corner kicks to BC's one. Brevard was forced to play a player down for the final 27 minutes of action as a red card was issued.
Brevard will attempt to return to the win column as the Tornados hit the road again for conference action on Wednesday, October 18 at 7 p.m. facing off with Greensboro College in Greensboro, North Carolina.
