BREVARD, N.C. - A second half which included an offensive explosion of four goals gave the Brevard College women's soccer team (8-4-2) a 4-0 non-conference victory over fellow Western North Carolina opponent Warren Wilson College (0-9-1) on Monday evening at Ives-Lemel Family Field.

Sophomore midfielder
Kiara Porcelli led all Tornados with a pair of goals, while freshman defender
Emily Howle scored her first collegiate goal and senior forward
Abby Mayer put in her second goal of the season.
Grace Black,
Autumn Wright, and
Mikayla Zvekan all tallied assists, while the Tornado defense held the Owls without a shot attempt for the second time this season.

The victory improved BC to an unblemished 5-0-1 mark at home this season, and Brevard improved its all-time record over Warren Wilson to 8-1-1.

Mackenzie Lozano earned her first start of the season, earning the complete-match shutout. WWC's Callie Aerni made 12 saves in the contest.

Brevard held a commanding possession and shot advantage (11-0) in the first half while featuring several first-time starters in its lineup, as both sides went into the intermission level at 0-0. BC then outshot the Owls 21-0 in the second period for a 32-0 over edge in the match.

Howle broke the scoreless tie in the 64th minute as Zvekan played a corner kick into the box, and the freshman defender made contact with a header that went straight into the back of the net and gave Brevard the 1-0 lead.

BC doubled its lead eight minutes later as
Austin Huffman drew a foul in the penalty box off the Warren Wilson keeper, and Porcelli lined up at the spot and put away the PK.

The Tornados added some insurance to its two-goal lead in the 78th minute of action, when Black played in a cross that was finished by Porcelli, making it a 3-0 affair with just over 10 minutes left to play.

Mayer capped off Brevard's four-goal second half after Wright played her a through ball and the Roxboro, North Carolina senior finished the job as Brevard glided to the 4-0 triumph.

BC is back in action on Wednesday, resuming a previously postponed home match that the Tornados currently hold a 4-0 lead in at halftime. Brevard will conclude the second half of action against Toccoa Falls College in Toccoa, Georgia before returning home for Senior Day on Saturday at 1 p.m. vs. Mary Baldwin University.
