GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Brevard College volleyball team (9-16, 6-11 USAS) dropped a USA South Conference contest, 3-0 to host Greensboro College (18-9, 14-3 USAS) on Tuesday evening at Hanes Gymnasium in Greensboro, North Carolina.
Senior
Kaitlyn Pressley led the Tornados with eight assists, four kills and an ace. Senior
Makenna Parkins recorded five kills, alongside four kills by junior
Ashley Hoxit. Setter
Logan Priddy delivered on seven assists as well.
Defensively,
Bailey Lance, Caitlin Hagerty and Hoxit led the way for Brevard with 14 digs apiece. At the net, both
Kendall Rockstad and
Jaxson Tumicki recorded blocks.
Lance, Brevard's all-time service ace leader in the NCAA era, added two more aces to her career total. Pressley, Priddy and Hoxit hit on aces as well.
Greensboro, currently second in the USA South Conference standings won the match in straight sets taking each of the first two sets by the identical score of 25-15 followed by a 25-16 score in set number three.
In the first set, Brevard and Greensboro were tied 14-14, before the hosts rattled off an 11-1 run to take the opening stanza. The Pride maintained a lead throughout the majority of each of the following two sets to clinch the victory.
BC will turn its attention to the regular-season finale set for Friday, November 3 vs. William Peace University. First serve is set for 6 p.m. at the Boshamer Gymnasium.
