BREVARD, N.C. - The Brevard College volleyball team (10-16, 7-11 USA South) capped off the regular season with an electric 3-1 victory over William Peace University (14-15, 11-7 USAS) in four sets (25-23, 25-20, 24-26, 25-13) on Friday evening at the Boshamer Gymnasium.
The victory concludes a 10-win season for the Tornados, who have secured the seventh seed in the upcoming USA South Conference Volleyball Tournament. Brevard will head to either Greensboro College or Meredith College to compete in the first round next Tuesday, November 7.
The win gave the BC volleyball program its most single-season win total since the 2017 campaign when the Tornados racked up 13 victories.
Kaitlyn Pressley dominated in her final senior year home contest, notching yet another triple-double in her illustrious Tornado career and bringing her season total to five. The Brevard, North Carolina setter/right-side hitter drove home a season-high 19 kills to go along with a season-best 25 assists and a season-high 17 digs for a stunning triple-double effort, dominating every facet of the match.
Logan Priddy, a setter from Greensboro, North Carolina, matched Pressley's total with 25 assists as the Tornado offense was on its game throughout the contest.
Ashley Hoxit and
Makenna Parkins added 13 kills apiece with
Bailey Lance logging 26 digs, six assists, and three service aces.
Caitlin Hagarty matched her previous season high with 14 digs, and
Blair Nance added a season-best 11 kills. Overall, the Tornado offense totaled 48 kills as a team.
Kelsey Bierbauer led the opposition with 13 kills, while Audrey Spindle added 21 assists and Hannah Collier notched 16 digs.
Brevard opened up an early 9-4 lead in the first set and held a 15-11 advantage before the Pacers struck back, taking the lead 18-16. BC won the race to 20 with a Parkins kill, 20-19, and held the Pacers off down the stretch with a Pressley kill sealing the first set win, 25-23.
William Peace held a 15-11 lead in the second set, but the Tornados used six-consecutive points to retake the lead, 17-15 following a Hoxit service ace. With the score tied 18 all, Brevard rattled off five-straight points with three kills, a service ace, and a WPU error. A Pacer attack error ended the second set, giving Brevard a commanding 2-0 match lead.
A back-and-forth third set saw 12 tied scores and five lead changes total. The score was tied late, 19-19, but the Pacers found three-straight points to take a 22-19 edge. Brevard answered back with three points of its own, tying things up 23 all. However, William Peace would score three out of the next four to win the third set, 26-24.
Brevard's offensive attack dominated in the fourth and final set, using 11 kills to earn a dominant 25-13 match-clinching victory.
