BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Four Brevard College Tornados reached double figures in scoring as BC (1-3) defeated Sewanee (1-4), 78-65, to secure its first win of the 2023-24 campaign on Saturday afternoon in Birmingham, Alabama at the Black-Tie Classic.
Jadon Carnes led all Tornados with 13 points on 6-of-11 shooting and dished out four assists. Charlie Hester added 12 points on a flawless 4-of-4 from the field and free throw line, while Quincy Carter and Chancey Watson each added 10 points each. Watson and LB Boyette led the Tornados on the boards with five rebounds apiece.
Sewanee's Russ Marr led all scorers with 17 points, as Fletcher Bingham (14 points) and Tre Corrigan (11 points) also reached the double-digit scoring plateau.
The victory marked the first win for BC over Sewanee in five total tries.
BC shot 49% from the field compared to a 40% effort by the Tigers. Each team scored 38 points in the paint, but the Tornados' bench outscored Sewanee's 39-18.
Brevard returns home to cap off a doubleheader at home, as the Tornados take on Warren Wilson College on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
