Brevard Reaches Longest Win Streak Since 2009 with 86-83 Triumph at Piedmont

Four Tornados Reach Double Figures as Brevard Matches Longest Streak Since 2009-10

DEMOREST, Ga. - The Brevard College men's basketball team (5-3) defeated Piedmont University (6-2) by a final of 86-83, matching the longest win streak in the NCAA era for the Tornados (five games) with Sunday afternoon's win in Demorest, Georgia.

Brevard opened up a 14-point lead midway through the second half and staved off a late Lion rally to win its fifth-straight contest for the first time since the 2009-10 season as a program.

Four Tornados reached double figures in the winning effort, with graduate guard Quincy Carter leading the way with 19 points on 8-of-12 shooting, two made 3-pointers, five rebounds and three assists. Senior guard Carson Evans added 18 points with a team-best four 3-pointers, while Jadon Carnes (13 points) and Chancey Watson (12 points) also reached the double-digit scoring mark. Charlie Hester stuffed the stat sheet with seven points to go along with team-high marks in rebounds (six) and assists (seven).

Brevard outshot the Lions 52% to 39% from the field and hit six more long-range baskets (14-8) than Piedmont. BC led ever since the 2-2 mark early in the first stages of action, and claimed the win despite being outrebounded 47-32 by the hosts.

Piedmont was paced by Ryan Jolly, who dropped a game-high 31 points with six rebounds and six assists. Joe Helenbrook added 17 points and 23 rebounds, while Noah Reardon reached double figures with 13 points.

Brevard is back in action with a local matchup in Swannanoa, North Carolina on Wednesday at 7 p.m. against Warren Wilson College.
