Tornados Fall Late at Warren Wilson, 70-64, to Halt Win Streak

Owls End Game on 15-2 Run to Drop Tornados

SWANNANOA, N.C. - Warren Wilson College (2-7) went on a 15-2 scoring run over the final 4:41 of action to take a 70-64 victory over Brevard College (5-4), stopping a five-game Tornado win streak on Wednesday afternoon in Swannanoa, North Carolina.

After leading for a majority of the contest, Warren Wilson relinquished their lead in the second half in the later stages of the period when Quincy Carter hit a layup at the 7:41 mark as Brevard took a one-point lead, 55-54.

BC extended its lead to a game-best 62-55 mark with 4:48 left to play before Warren Wilson flipped the script with their game-clinching 15-2 run.

Junior guard Charlie Hester scored a Brevard-high 19 points on 6-of-10 shooting from the field with two 3-pointers and five free throws, while also grabbing six rebounds. Jadon Carnes scored 12 points on 6-of-8 shooting, while Sly White put up a season-best 10 points on 5-of-7 from the field. Senior guard Charles Reed grabbed a team-best eight boards and dished out five assists.

Four Owls reached double digit scoring totals en route to the victorious effort. Antonio Banuelos scored a game-high 20 points, followed by Aaron Cuthburtson (19 points), Dylan Wheatley (11 points), and Nasir Cotton (10 points). Yoshi Kendrick had a near double-double with eight points and a game-high 11 rebounds.

Warren Wilson managed a highly-efficient 52% from the field and hit six 3-pointers. Brevard hit 40% of its shots and only was able to hit a pair of 3-pointers.

Brevard's bench outscored WWC's 19-2, while the Tornados held a slim 42-40 advantage in the painted area. The defeat halted Brevard's longest win streak since 2009, where the Tornados also won five contests in a row in the 2009-10 campaign.

BC will be back in action at home on Friday at 5:30 p.m. when the Tornados take on Johnson & Wales - Charlotte.
