BREVARD, N.C. - The Brevard College men's basketball team (5-5) fell 94-70 to Johnson & Wales University Charlotte on Friday evening at the Boshamer Gymnasium.
The Wildcats used a 54% mark from the field coupled with 13 made 3-pointers, a 57% clip from beyond the arc, and a 43-23 rebounding advantage to claim the 24-point win.
Quincy Carter led the Tornados with 17 points on 7-of-12 shooting and a pair of made 3-pointers. Charlie Hester added 15 points with two 3's and a pair of blocks, while Carson Evans also reached double figures, scoring 11 points. Paris Crawford and Kavan Horton each scored seven points, while Jadon Carnes dished out a team-best four assists.
The visiting Wildcats were paced by Kendall Wooldridge, who poured in a game-high 25 points on nine made field goals and a game-best five 3-pointers. Nathan Meshida added 12 points, while Jaylen Benson-Hollinhead recorded a double-double of 10 points and 14 rebounds.
JWU edged Brevard with 33 bench points and 18 fast break points in the contest. The game was back and forth through the first 10 minutes of action before the Wildcats ended the first period on a 27-13 scoring run to take an 11-point lead into the second half. Brevard was unable to cut the deficit back inside single digits, as the Wildcats kept up their hot shooting in the final 20 minutes to clinch the 94-70 victory.
The Tornados will be off of game action for just over three weeks before Brevard closes out the 2023 calendar year with a road matchup at Randolph College in Lynchburg, Virginia on Saturday, December 30 at 2 p.m.
