Tornados Storm Through Decatur, 6-0

Brevard Scores Three in Each Half to Earn Dominant Road Win

DECATUR, Ga. – The Brevard College women's soccer team (2-2) picked up right where it left off in last Saturday's lightning-halted contest, as the Tornados dominated Agnes Scott College (0-4), 6-0, in a Monday afternoon matinee at Gellerstedt Field in Decatur, Georgia.

The victory improved BC's all-time record over the Scotties to 7-0 all time, with a combined goal differential in those contests of 26-0.

Senior forward Grace Black led the way for Brevard with two goals and an assist, with all her points coming in the second half of action. Kiara Porcelli scored a pair of first-half goals, while freshman Kaylin Prestosh scored the first goal and added her first assist of her collegiate career in the second half. Nicole Arroyo, Tae Brown, and Channing Barker all added assists, while the Tornados also benefited from an Agnes Scott own goal at the end of the first half.

Black (seven shots), Abby Mayer (six shots), and Hailey Brien (five shots) led the way for BC's onslaught of a season-high 34 shot attempts, as the Tornados managed to outshoot Agnes Scott 34-3 (15-2 shots-on-goal).

Agnes Scott's Olivia Rosario made 10 saves in the contest.

Porcelli scored the first of her goals In the 12th minute of play, as Arroyo played in a free kick from midfield that found Porcelli onside, as the sophomore midfielder gathered the ball and ripped a shot that took a deflection and found the back of the net to give the Tornados the early edge.

Seven minutes later, Porcelli earned her brace with a second goal, as Barker whipped in a cross that found the head of Huffman. Huffman's header fell to Porcelli's feet, who immediately fired a shot into the top bin of the upper-left corner as the Tornados extended their lead, 2-0.

After several attacking chances, the Scotties conceded an own goal as Mikayla Zvekan's cross into the box was headed by a Scottie defender into the goal just before halftime, as BC's lead reached a comfortable 3-0 margin.

The Tornados held a dominant 14-0 shot advantage at the break.

BC's first chance in the second half came in the 58th minute when the Tornados brought Arroyo up to take a free kick at the edge of the penalty box after Zvekan was fouled. Arroyo's attempt just narrowly missed on the right side.

Brevard extended its lead in the 64th minute as Prestosh found the goal for the first time as a Tornado student-athlete, as Black found her wide open in the middle of the Scottie box.

Black got on the scoresheet in the 73rd minute as Brown played a through ball to her and the Charleston, South Carolina native beat the keeper one-on-one and scored an empty-net goal.

The senior added another to her total in the 85th minite as Prestosh found her, and Black did the rest by beating the defender and scoring comfortably as the Tornados wrapped up their six-goal victory.

The Tornados return to action on Wednesday with a road trip to Warren Wilson College in Swannanoa, North Carolina, with kickoff time slated for 5:30 p.m.
