BREVARD, N.C. – The Brevard College women's soccer team (5-2-2, 1-0-2 USA South) played to a scoreless draw on Saturday afternoon vs. Meredith College (2-2-4, 1-0-1 USAS) at Ives-Lemel Family Field.
The Tornados were unable to find the back of the net despite creating several chances in the contest, including 19 total shot attempts and seven shots-on-goal to Meredith's two shot attempts in the match.
Meredith secured its fourth draw in eight matches, while Brevard's unbeaten streak now reaches six matches.
Brevard's
Grace Black and
Mikayla Zvekan each took for shot attempts, with the sophomore from Draper, Utah taking a team-high three shot attempts on-goal.
Olivia Guillermo,
Kiara Porcelli, and
Abby Nunez – Brevard's starting goalkeeper in the match – all took two shot attempts apiece.
Meredith's goalkeeper Kasey Wilkins kept Brevard scoreless with seven critical saves in the contest.
BC was able to fire off eight shots in the first period before taking 11 attempts in the second half. Brevard also won a total of seven corner kicks in the contest, showcasing their possession advantage in the match.
The Tornados are back in action next Tuesday, October 3 when Brevard takes on Salem College in Winston-Salem, North Carolina at 4 p.m.
