BREVARD, N.C. - The Brevard College men's basketball team (8-9, 3-3 USA South) fell in a tight USA South Conference matchup to Greensboro College (7-9, 3-2 USAS), 67-63, on Wednesday evening at the Boshamer Gymnasium.

Brevard overcame a slow start to the contest to trim its halftime deficit to a two-point, 30-28 margin. The Tornados eventually took a couple leads in the second half, but clutch free throw shooting down the stretch gave the Pride the four-point edge.

Jadon Carnes poured in a season-high 21 points with eight made field goals and a game-best five 3-pointers, as the Tornados held a 12-1 edge on shots beyond the arc. LB Boyette went 3-for-3 from distance to score 12 points, while Quincy Carter added 10 points and matched the game high with Carnes for five assists. Carson Evans and Kavan Horton each contributed eight points apiece as well.

Greensboro's Matthew Brown scored a game-best 22 points to lead three GC players in double figures. Brown notched a double-double with 11 rebounds, while Tim Boulware added 16 points and Grant Thompson put up 12. The Pride held a massive 36-16 edge in the rebounding category.

GC pounded the ball inside, outscoring Brevard 32-14 in the painted area. BC's defense forced Greensboro into 15 turnovers, while Horton rejected a pair of shot attempts. Greensboro brought in nine offensive rebounds and scored 10 second-chance points.

Greensboro jumped out to a game-best 14-point lead, 25-11 with 7:06 left in the half before Brevard answered with a game-long 9-0 run to cut the deficit down to five points, 25-20. BC went on to outscore Greensboro 8-5 down the stretch as the visitors took a two-point lead into the locker rooms. The Pride shot the ball 50% in the first half compared to BC's 38% clip.

Brevard took its first lead of the contest with 13:29 left to play following a Carnes 3-pointer, and extended their lead out to a game-high 8-point margin following Boyette's 3-pointer at the 10:58 mark.

BC held a 3-point cushion following the under-four media timeout, but four-consecutive made free throws gave Greensboro the edge once more, 57-56. With the score tied, an intentional foul led to a made free throw that was immediately followed by an and-one layup that was converted.

BC trimmed the margin down to two points on three seperate occasions down the stretch, but Greensboro hit its free throws when they counted most to close out the four-point conference win, 67-63.

Brevard now hits the road to take on William Peace University in Raleigh, North Carolina on Saturday at 2 p.m.
