Box Score FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - The Brevard College women's basketball team (8-3, 4-2 USA South) fell in a conference matchup to Methodist University Monarchs on Saturday afternoon in Fayetteville, North Carolina, 72-60.
Brevard fell behind in the first half, and used a spirited third-quarter to cut the deficit to single digits, but ultimately fell by double digits.
Josie Hester led the Tornados with 12 points and three made 3-pointers, while Makenna Parkins added 10 points and six rebounds. Chyna Pouncey grabbed a team-best eight boards, and Lexi Shepard dished out five assists.
Methodist's Jessica Drake led four double-figure scorers with a game-high 17 points. Rebecca McGaughnea added 14 points and seven boards. Kiley Hicks (11 points) and Aniyah Tate (10 points) also reached double figure scoring totals.
Methodist jumped out to a commanding 23-point lead, 40-17, at the halftime intermission. Brevard cut into the deficit, scoring 25 points in the third quarter to make it a 54-42 ballgame, but the Monarchs tied the Tornados in the fourth period to ultimately take the victory, 72-60.
The Tornados will host Greensboro College on Tuesday, January 9 at 6 p.m. at the Boshamer Gymnasium.
