BREVARD, N.C. – The Brevard College volleyball team (11-7, 3-5 USA South) fell 3-0 to Meredith College (11-6, 6-3 USAS) on Saturday at the Boshamer Gymnasium, in set scores of 25-14, 25-12, and 25-17.
Caroline Moon led Brevard's offensive attack with a career-high 10-kill output. The effort marked the Woodstock, Georgia freshman's first double-digit kill mark in the collegiate ranks.
Fifth-year senior outside-hitter
Makenna Parkins added eight kills, while
Izzy Boulay dished out 21 assists.
Bailey Lance (13 digs),
Ashley Hoxit (10 digs), and
Kylie Katcher (10 digs) paced BC's defense.
Meredith featured a balanced attack with five players registering five kills or more in the match. Lillie Davis distributed 28 assists with 13 digs for a double-double, and Megan Murray led all players with 15 digs. Kinley Copeland was a force for the Avenging Angels at the net with five total blocks.
The visitors trailed only once throughout the three-set match, putting together lengthy scoring runs to pull away from the Tornados by double-digits in the first two sets before clinching the match with a 25-17 triumph in the deciding third set.
Brevard will gear up for a USA South Conference tri-match at The Bosh next Friday, October 18. BC takes on Southern Virginia at 10 a.m. before facing NC Wesleyan at 2 p.m.
