BREVARD, N.C. - Freshman outside hitter/defensive specialist Caroline Moon put together a career performance with 16 kills and 16 digs in Brevard's sweep over NC Wesleyan to open up a USA South Conference tri-match on Friday at the Boshamer Gumnasium.
The Tornados (12-8, 4-6 USA South) defeated the Battling Bishops (2-18, 1-11 USAS) in straight sets (27-27, 27-25, 25-22) before dropping a three-set match to visiting Southern Virginia (14-9, 10-1 USAS) to close out the tri-match.
BREVARD 3, NC WESLEYAN 0 (27-25, 27-25, 25-22)

Each set was hotly contested in the match, with BC winning by just two points in the first two sets before a three-point set three win. In the first set, after several lead changes the visitors found themselves up 18-17 before Brevard rallied off five points in a row to take a four point lead, 22-18. The Battling Bishops clawed back to tie the set at 24 each and even got to set point, but Brevard dug deep and a Parkins kill coupled by two NCW errors gave the Tornados the first set win.
The Tornados jumped out to a six point lead late, 19-13, but NCW came back once again using a 12-5 scoring run to get to set point once more, 25-24. A Moon kill, service ace, and a block by Jaxson Tumicki clinched the second set for the Tornados.
Brevard trailed in the third set 16-13, as NCW looked to get on the board, but a seven-point run for the Tornados flipped the script and gave Brevard a four-point cushion 20-16. BC pushed its lead up to six at match point, 24-18, but four-straight Battling Bishop points made it a tight third-set finish. Parkins finished the match off with her 11th kill, sealing the sweep for the Tornados.

BC held a 15-13 set one lead before six-consecutive Knight points. Brevard cut the deficit back down to one point, 19-18, and trimmed it to two points late at 24-22, but the Knights held the Tornados off in the first stanza.
