STAUNTON, Va. - The Brevard College women's soccer team (8-0-2, 3-0-1 USA South) remained unbeaten with a 3-1 victory over Mary Baldwin University (2-7-2, 2-4-0 USAS) on Sunday afternoon in Staunton, Virginia.
The best start to a season in BC's NCAA era rolls on as the Tornados remained unbeaten through 10 matches in 2024.
Three different Tornados got on the score sheet as Kinlee Mozley, Kiara Porcelli, and Mikayla Zvekan all found the back of the net, while Brennan Howell and Austin Huffman distributed assists. Nicole Arroyo got the start in goal for Brevard and made three saves for the Tornados.
Noracelina Ramirez scored MBU's lone goal in the 85th minute on an assist from Eve Diep.
Brevard dominated the match with a 21-5 advantage on shot attempts and an 8-4 edge in shots on target. BC took five corner kicks while the foul count wuss even at eight apiece.
Porcelli opened the scoring in the 16th minute with her seventh goal of the season. Mozley put in Huffman's assist in the 32nd minute to double the lead before halftime, while Zvekan scored her team-high eighth goal of the season in the 71st minute on a Howell assist that put the match out of reach despite the Fighting Squirrels' 85th minute score.
Brevard will put its unbeaten season back on the line on Wednesday, October 16 at 4 p.m. when BC hosts Salem College at Ives-Lemel Family Field.
