Brevard Finishes Double-Digit Comeback in Overtime, 68-62

First Win for Tornados Over LaGrange is a Thriller

LAGRANGE, Ga. - The Brevard College men's basketball team (4-1) came back from a 15-point deficit and earned a 68-62 overtime win over LaGrange College (2-3) on Monday evening at the Mariotti Gymnasium in LaGrange, Georgia.

The victory marked Brevard's first-ever win over LaGrange in the program's NCAA history.

Trailing 47-32 with 10:51 left to play, the Tornados went on a ferocious 26-8 run to take a three-point lead, 58-55, with 44 seconds to play. LaGrange hit a 3-pointer and was fouled, but missed the potential game-winning free throw, sending the contest into overtime. The Tornados held the Panthers to just two field goals and outscored the hosts 10-4 in the extra period, as graduate guard Charles Reed iced the game with a big 3-pointer to wrap up the six-point Tornado win.

Reed scored seven points and snagged a career-high 12 rebounds, as Brevard outpaced LaGrange on the boards 52-43. Jadon Carnes stuffed up the stat sheet with 12 points, a career-best nine assists, and six rebounds. Brevard assisted on 19 of its 26 made buckets.

Brennan Wansley, who was named USA South Rookie of the Week for the second time this season earlier on Monday, scored a team-high 14 points with four rebounds, a team-high four steals and three blocked shots. Fellow freshman Justen Goudelock poured in eight points off the bench as well.

Jace Herrell put up 16 points off the bench to lead the Panthers, while Samuel Moss (13 points) and Kameron McCall (11 points) also reached double figures.

The Tornados scored 34 points in the paint to LaGrange's 30, but the Panthers took advantage of 19 Tornado turnovers and scored 18 points off those miscues.

Brevard outshot LaGrange 43% to 33% from the field, while both sides had struggled from both beyond the arc and from the free throw line. The effort marked the first time through five games that the Tornados have not eclipsed 50% shooting from the field, but the Tornados found a way to pull out victory regardless

BC returns to play following Thanksgiving break with a Tuesday, December 3rd road trip to Greenville, South Carolina at 7 p.m. to face Bob Jones University.
