BREVARD, N.C. - The Brevard College men's lacrosse team (1-6) fell 24-5 to visiting Franciscan University of Steubenville on Thursday afternoon, closing out five-consecutive home games for the Tornados.
Atticus Cooper led all Tornados with two goals, while
Parker Corbett added a goal and two assists.
Drew Pond scored a goal with an assist and
Gage Khayat also scored for BC.
Tyler Cameron grabbed a career-high seven ground balls, and
Logan Southern won five faceoffs.
Scott Bundy came in off the bench and made 10 saves.
Franciscan's Gavin Cook scored a team-best six goals, Joseph James and Samuel Marshall each scored five goals, and James Masso added four goals as the visitors racked up 24 total scores. Sam Smith caused a game-best six turnovers, and Jeofre Strandhagen and Richard Vale III each grabbed eight ground balls.
Franciscan held a 54-37 shot edge and made 16 saves to BC's 12. Each side did well on clear attempts, with Franciscan going 24-for-25 to BC's 19-for-21 mark, and the Barons had a 57-40 edge on ground balls. The visitors won 23 of 32 total faceoffs to dominate possession.
Brevard will open up USA South play at 11 a.m. on the road next Saturday, March 23 in Buena Vista, Virginia, taking on Southern Virginia University.
