Pacers Takes Two from Tornados

RALEIGH, N.C. - The Brevard College softball team (6-21, 0-8 USA South) dropped both games of a USA South Conference doubleheader to host William Peace University (16-16, 6-6 USAS) on Saturday afternoon in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Game One - William Peace 8, Brevard 0 (5 innings)

The Pacers jumped on BC early with five runs in the bottom of the first.  After a scoreless second inning, William Peace added three more runs in the third.  BC held the Pacers scoreless in the fourth inning, but was unable to generate any run production to cut into the deficit.

Center fielder Karley Queen led Brevard offensively with a strong 2-for-2 performance that included a base on balls.  Rightfielder MacKenzie Wilborne, designated player Summer Crist and shortstop Gabby Hooper also recorded hits for the Tornados.

BC's Regan Winkler and Ive Leighton both reached base via walks, while Leighton also drew a hit-by-pitch in the contest.

Freshman Logan Masinsky started in the circle for Brevard.  Masinsky allowed four earned runs on eight hits as the Tornados defense was plagued with three errors.

Reagan Stewart (6-8) was the winning pitcher for William Peace, pitching three shutout innings.

Game Two - William Peace 8, Brevard 0 (5 innings)

William Peace scored in each of the four innings, including a big four-run third frame en route to the run-rule victory in game two of the doubleheader.

Designated player Peyton Wise led the Tornados on the offensive end, going 2-for-2 with a double.  Identical to game one of the doubleheader, the Tornados recorded five hits with Crist, Jadyn Harlow and Rylee Locklear adding singles to BC's tally.

Masinsky again was tasked to pitch for the Tornados and went the entire available four innings in the circle.  Erin Miles (4-1) earned the win for the Pacers with four shutout innings and three strikeouts.

The BC softball team returns to action on Sunday as the road trip continues in the Raleigh, North Carolina area with a doubleheader at Meredith College.  The Tornados then return home with a conference matchup vs. Salem College on Tuesday beginning at 1 p.m. at the BC Softball Field,
