Record Day for BC Women’s Soccer on Saturday in Roanoke

BC Scores Most Goals in its NCAA History; Rubin Shatters Single-Game Point Record

ROANOKE, Va. - The Brevard College women's soccer team (3-0) continued its fast start to the 2024 campaign, setting a new NCAA-era program record for single-game goals with an 11-0 thrashing of Hollins University (2-1) on Saturday afternoon in Roanoke, Virginia.

Freshman Mikayla Rubin recorded her first collegiate hat trick, and the first three-goal performance by a Tornado this season, putting three past Hollins in addition to two assists for a remarkable eight-point performance. Rubin's effort is the 10th hat trick in Brevard's NCAA history, while her eight points in Saturday's contest breaks the single-game NCAA-era program point record.

Fellow freshman Kinlee Mozley facilitated the Tornado offense with three assists to go alongside a goal for five points in the match. It is only the fourth time that a Tornado has recorded three assists in a single game in NCAA history, with the most recent occurrence coming on September 27, 2022 by BC alumna Alyssa Hetherington '23.

Junior forward Mikayla Zvekan continued her dominant week of play with two goals and an assist. In the first week of the 2024 season, Zvekan has recorded four goals and three assists. Kiara Porcelli also had a multiple-goal effort, scoring twice for the Tornados.

Brennan Howell, a freshman from Youngsville, North Carolina, notched her first collegiate goal and assist in the blowout victory. Fellow freshman Catie Barton followed up her two-goal effort on Friday with a score in Saturday's contest as well. Senior midfielder Hayley Kenney scored her first career collegiate goal, while Olivia Guillermo added an assist to BC's explosive offensive output.

Four goalkeepers saw action for the Tornados on Saturday, as Nicole Arroyo (2-0), Zoe Hughes, Mackenzie Lozano, and Madison West all saw action for Brevard. Arroyo and Hughes made the two saves needed on the day, while Lozano made her season debut and West made her collegiate debut in the contest.

BC took a total of 44 shots in the game, while Hollins' keepers combined to make 11 saves.

Brevard will hit the road next week for a test against a former conference foe, Piedmont University, on Wednesday, September 11 at 7 p.m. in Demorest, Georgia.
