Tornados Sweep Owls at The Bosh

Brevard Dominates for First Home Victory

BREVARD, N.C. - The Brevard College volleyball team (5-15) took down Warren Wilson (2-15) by a final of 3-0 (25-19, 25-19, 25-19) on Tuesday evening at the Boshamer Gymnasium.

With the win, the Tornados picked up their first home victory of 2025 in emphatic fashion.

Senior middle blocker Jaxson Tumicki matched her season and career high with 11 kills. Abigail Kelly joined Tumicki in double digits with 10 kills, and Izzy Boulay facilitated the offense with 20 assists. On the defensive end, Tumicki totaled four solo blocks, while Kylie Katcher logged 10 digs to lead all Tornados.

KJ Helinsky led the Owls with a match high 14 kills, with Alaina Castengera registering a double-double (25 assists, 10 digs) and Josie McCoy leading all defensive players with 11 digs.

Brevard opened up an early five point lead in set one, 13-8, and scored 10 of the next 17 to go up by eight points at 23-15. WWC scored four of the next five to trim the deficit to five points, but an Emma Fontana kill gave the Tornados the first set.

BC again took the early advantage in the second set, 13-10, and used a 7-1 scoring run to grow its lead to nine points, 20-11. Warren Wilson was able to trim the deficit again to a five-point margin, but a kill from Kelly put Brevard up two sets to zero.

The Owls responded by opening the third set up on a 7-2 run. BC scored 13 of the next 20 points to take the lead in the set for good, and finished off the match by scoring four consecutive points as Kelly's kill clinched the home sweep for the Nados.

Brevard will now prepare to host a USA South tri-match this Friday, beginning at 10 a.m. BC first faces NC Wesleyan in the early match before taking on Southern Virginia at 2 p.m., with neutral site action in between.
