BREVARD, N.C. – Brevard College senior forward Jadon Carnes drove and dropped a last-second layup to tie at the end of regulation, and the BC men's basketball team (5-3) outscored JWU Charlotte (1-9) 16-12 in overtime to pull out a 98-94 victory over the Wildcats on Saturday afternoon at the Boshamer Gymnasium.
Trailing by five points, 81-76, with just over a minute left to play, senior guard KK Horton hit a driving layup to cut the deficit to three points with under 50 seconds to go. On the final possession of regulation, Carnes received the ball at the right wing, drove down the lane, spun, and finished a right-handed finger roll to send the contest to overtime, marking the first OT of the season for the Tornados.
After being held without a made 3-pointer for the entirety of the second half, Horton drilled the first long-range attempt for the Tornados in the extra frame. BC took a couple of seven-point leads, 90-83 and 92-85, before a quick 5-0 JWU spurt pulled the Wildcats within two with 1:09 remaining in OT. A critical block by Dre'Shaun Brown preserved BC's two-point edge, and the Tornados used clutch free-throw shooting to nail down the victory. Horton drained a pair with 26 seconds left to play, and after a Wildcat jumper cut the lead back down to two, Malachi McLean drained two free throws with 10 seconds left to put the Tornados back up by four, 96-92.

McKnight scored a career-high 18 points on an efficient 6-of-8 from the field, drilling both of his 3-pointers while going a perfect 4-of-4 at the charity stripe. Horton stuffed the stat sheet with 17 points, eight rebounds, and five assists, while Carnes added 15 points, five assists, and four rebounds. Five Tornados in total reached double-digit scoring, as Twain Wilson put up 13 points and Ryder Block surged for 10 points in seven minutes of action.
