BREVARD, N.C. – Freshman guard
Twain Wilson became the first Brevard College men's basketball student-athlete to ever win USA South Conference Rookie of the Year, as the league announced its postseason honors.
Wilson was joined by senior guard
KK Horton – who was named to the USA South All-Conference Second Team, marking the second consecutive season that the Tornados have earned an All-Conference recognition. Fellow senior guard
Charlie Hester was selected as BC's representative on the All-Sportsmanship Team.
Wilson, a native of Columbia, South Carolina, and a product of Leilehua HS in Hawaii, becomes the first Brevard men's basketball student-athlete to be named USA South Rookie of the Year. During the regular season, Wilson averaged a league-rookie-best 11.4 points to go along with 2.8 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game. Against conference foes only, Wilson again led all rookies in scoring, averaging 12.4 points per contest. Finally, Wilson was named USA South Rookie of the Week six times.
The first-year Tornado sensation led the team with 41 3-pointers made, ranked second on the squad with an 11.5 points-per-game average, and finished third with 99 field goals made. Wilson scored in double figures 13 times in 2024-25, highlighted by a 24-point performance in a home win over NC Wesleyan (Jan. 12).
Horton, a local product out of Asheville, North Carolina, earns his first-ever selection onto the USA South All-Conference team, and BC's second overall since joining the USA South (
Quincy Carter, 2023-24) and third postseason honor from the league all-time (
LB Boyette, All-West Division 2021-22). The Tornado floor general had career-bests in most categories, averaging 11.9 points per game with 285 total points scored, 115 field goals made on a 53% clip from the field to go alongside 99 rebounds, 88 assists, and 44 steals.
Horton's scoring totals led all Tornados, as the point guard led all BC players in field goals made, rebounds, assists, and steals. The all-around effort was on full display with a near-triple-double effort in a victory over Methodist (Jan. 10), where Horton stuffed the stat sheet with 13 points, 10 assists, and eight rebounds. Additionally, Horton scored double-digits 15 times in 2024-25, with a career-high 26 points coming vs. Southern Virginia (Jan. 4).
Hester, a second-year Tornado senior guard from Huntersville, North Carolina, contributed heavily to BC's success in 2024-25. He led all Tornados with 40 made free throws, placed second in 3-pointers made (36), ranked third in total points (268), and was second on the squad with 11 blocked shots. Hester also scored in double figures 15 times, highlighted by a 23-point career-best mark at Pfeiffer (Feb. 4).
The Tornados qualified for postseason action for the fourth-consecutive season in 2024-25, and secured their third-straight double-digit win total for the first time since a three-season stretch spanning 2008-11. BC MBB defended its home court throughout the campaign, matching the program's most home victories (eight) in the NCAA era. As of February 26, 2025, the Tornados lead all of NCAA Division III in field goal percentage (51.5%) – a full point and a half higher than the next closest institution. Furthermore, BC MBB ranks inside the top 10 nationally with 18.7 assists per game (sixth).
