Earlham Charges in Second Half to Defeat Brevard, 9-5

Quakers Score Six-Consecutive Goals to Take the Game

BREVARD, N.C. – The Brevard College men's lacrosse team (2-6) hung tough but fell to Earlham (2-5) by a final of 9-5 after the Quakers scored six out of the seven total goals in the second half of action.

Brevard jumped out to a 2-1 first-quarter lead after goals by Michael Peters and Gage Khayat. The Quakers answered back with a goal early into the second period, but Jackson McFarland scored his first collegiate goal at the 11:38 mark off an assist from Brice Peterson that pushed the Tornados back ahead. Peters then found the back of the net for the second time in the first half, extending Brevard's lead briefly before Earlham scored at the 3:32 mark. The Tornados would take a one-goal edge, 4-3, into the intermission.

Earlham proved too much to handle from that point forward, scoring six consecutive goals to establish a commanding five-goal lead. Peters did find nylon at the horn, but the Quakers left BC with a four-goal triumph, 9-5.

Peters turned in his fourth multi-goal game of the season, bringing his total in 2025 to 15 scores. Khayat added a goal to his team-leading ledger, with the Mesa, Arizona junior scoring in all eight contests this season. McFarland, a first-year Tornado from Hendersonville, North Carolina, notched his first goal as a member of the BC men's lacrosse team.

Jack Hicks (2-6) helped anchor BC's defensive efforts with 18 saves on the afternoon. The Greensboro, North Carolina senior keeper has already totaled a program-record 476 saves thus far in his Brevard career, inching closer to the 500-save mark in a Tornado uniform. Logan Southern went 9-for-16 in faceoffs, with Devian Anderson, Braedyn Perez, Sutherland Ray, and Southern all totaling four ground balls.

The Quakers were paced by Robert Gift's four-point performance with three goals and an assist. Elijah Gamber, Giovanni Randazzo, and Izrael Santisteban all scored two goals apiece, while Ryan Polack added two assists. Earlham's defense was swarming, as the Tornados committed 31 turnovers, with the Quakers causing 18 of them. Ethan Upton had a big day on the defensive end with six ground balls and five caused turnovers, while Elijah Adamson led the game with seven ground balls and forced four turnovers.

Earlham doubled up the shot count, 40-20, while BC made 18 saves. The visitors converted 25 of their 29 clear attempts, but Brevard won the faceoff battle 9-7.

BC returns to play on Senior Day at Ives-Lemel Family Field, hosting Greensboro College at a newly adjusted start time of 3 p.m. Saturday's Senior Day ceremony will take place approx. 15 minutes prior to first faceoff time.
