Sensational Senior Day for Brevard College WLAX

Tornados Cruise to 19-10 Win on Senior Day Sunday

BREVARD, N.C. - The Brevard College women's lacrosse team (5-4, 3-1 USA South) cruised past Greensboro College (1-7, 0-4 USAS), 19-10 on Senior Day Sunday at Ives-Lemel Family Field.

BC honored its five seniors in a special pre-game ceremony prior to first draw - Grace Blanton, Emily Denaga, Kelsey Hamrick, Audrey Hanson, and Alyse Moore

Xan Hill and Denaga each scored six goals, with Hill also dishing four assists out and Denaga controlling seven draw in addition to five ground balls and three caused turnovers. Arianna Casertano scored three goals and added an assist, while Hanson and Madi Norris each scored twice. Moore grabbed a team-best six ground balls and Hamrick totaled four draw controls and two ground balls.

Hill surpassed the 150-point mark for her career, and Kyla Smith-Fondall notched her 200th collegiate save after stopping 12 shots on Sunday.

Brynly ManWaring led the Pride with six goals and an assist, and Rosanna Espinosa-Ponce scored three times and won a game-best eight draw controls.

BC edged GC in total shot attempts, 38-30, while Brevard forced the Pride into 24 total turnovers. Free-position attempts were critical for the Tornados on Sunday, as Brevard converted 8-of-12 to account for nearly half of BC's goals.

Both teams combined for 11 goals in a high-scoring and hotly-contested first quarter of play, but five different Tornados found the back of the net as Brevard took the early lead, 7-4 through one quarter of play.

BC then outscored Greensboro by one, 3-2 in the second period to hold a 10-6 edge at the intermission. Denaga led the way at the break with three goals, while Hill logged two goals and two assists. Norris scored twice as well before the second half of play.

The Tornados were able to seal the deal in the second half, outscoring Greensboro 9-4 to clinch the nine-goal win at home on Senior Day.

Brevard travels to Huntingdon next Saturday, March 29 at 12 p.m. ET / 11 a.m. CT continuing conference play in Montgomery, Alabama.
