Tornados Win Third-Straight with Shutout in Cary

First Shutout for BC WLAX Since 2018

CARY, N.C. - The Brevard College women's lacrosse team (6-4, 4-1 USA South) earned a dominant 17-0 shutout win over William Peace University (1-5, 1-2 USAS) on Saturday afternoon at the WakeMed Sports Complex in Cary, North Carolina.

The victory marked the first shutout win for BC WLAX since February 28, 2018 at Salem, when the Tornados won 26-0.

Junior Xan Hill tallied a game-high eight points with five goals alongside three assists. Senior Emily Denag matched Hill's five goals with an assist of her own, while Kelsey Hamrick put forth a career-high three goals and two assists for a career-best five points. Madi Norris notched a pair of scores, and senior defender Alyse Moore scored the fourth goal of her career. Arianna Casertano rounded out the offensive dominance for the Tornados with a goal and an assist.

Defensively, Kyla Smith-Fondall registered the shutout in the cage, saving the only shot on-target that she faced. Hamrick picked up a team-high three ground balls and also caused three turnovers.

BC dominated action by outshooting the Pacers 41-3. The Tornados controlled the ball well throughout action on Saturday, only turning the ball over eight times, while causing 11 total turnovers of their own.

BC scored five goals in the first half, with Hill involved in all five of them (three goals, two assists) before a four-goal second period gave the Tornados a 9-0 edge at the break. BC capped off the win with four goals each in the third and fourth stanzas.

Brevard returns home for Faculty & Staff Appreciation Day at Ives-Lemel Family Field, set for 5 p.m. on Tuesday, April 8 against Piedmont University.
