MISENHEIMER, N.C. - The Brevard College softball team (8-19, 4-12 USA South) fell by finals of 14-2 and 3-0 to nationally-ranked no. 21 Pfeiffer University (28-7, 16-0 USAS) on Saturday afternoon at Jack Ingram Field.
The Tornados scored the game's first run in the top of the third inning in game one, but Pfeiffer rallied with a 14-run stretch in the third and fourth innings to surge towards a run-rule win. Game two was a pitcher's duel, with the Falcons holding Brevard to just two hits offensively. Pfeiffer scored three in the fourth, and shut out BC through seven innings for the three-run victory.
Andrea Furr and Karley Queen each went 2-for-3 in game one, with Queen logging an RBI and Regan Winkler notching an RBI double.
Winkler logged a single in game two, while Addison Smith had BC's lone extra-base knock with a double.
Elizabeth Auciello got the start in both contests, going 2.1 innings in game one with four earned runs and a strikeout. The Tornado lefty went the distance in game two, allowing five hits and three earned runs. Pfeiffer's Emma Bullin (22-4) pitched a complete-game shutout with five strikeouts.
A pivotal doubleheader is incoming for the Tornados on Sunday, as Brevard hosts Methodist at the BC Softball Field beginning at 11 a.m.
