BREVARD, N.C. - Following an extensive, nationwide search, Ryan Wilkes has been tabbed as the Director of Broadcasting & Media Relations for the Brevard College Department of Athletics.

"We are thrilled to welcome Ryan to Nado Nation," commented Associate Vice President for Athletics Dr. Myranda Nash. "His experience will uphold the standard we hold for quality live streaming events, and he will be able to bring his unique talents to our incredible staff."

Wilkes joins Brevard after most recently serving as the Sports Information Graduate Assistant with NCAA DII Carson-Newman University in Jefferson City, Tennessee.

"I could not be more excited to join the Brevard family," stated Wilkes. "I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work closely with a great group of passionate students and those within the athletic department. I can't wait to get started!"

During his time with Carson-Newman, Wilkes served as the primary media contact and handled play-by-play duties for the Eagles' golf, tennis, and softball programs. Wilkes gained valuable experience in various facets of sports media, including baseball, basketball, football, and soccer, handling live statistics, public address announcing, broadcast directing, and social media. Wilkes also served as the play-by-play voice for several other C-N sports, including baseball, basketball, and volleyball.

"Ryan is a stellar addition to the Brevard College Department of Athletics," added Sports Information Director Joseph Marvin. "Ryan set himself apart amongst a competitive field of applicants with his well-rounded experience. We are excited to have him aboard as we continue to strive to take the BC sports media experience to new heights for our student-athletes and fans."

Wilkes' passion for broadcasting was on full display early in his sports media career, as he spent three seasons with the Appalachian League's Pulaski River Turtles in Pulaski, Virginia. Wilkes called 120 total games for the summer collegiate baseball organization, developing relationships with fans and players by additionally conducting interviews that were broadcast on the affiliated radio station, ESPN Blacksburg.

Wilkes also served as a Media Relations Intern with the Roanoke Railyard Dawgs, a SPHL ice hockey team located in Roanoke, Virginia. During his time with the Railyard Dawgs, Wilkes provided in-game social media coverage and conducted pregame interviews with coaches and athletes. Wilkes also created video content in-game that was later used on social media while also gaining valuable experience writing feature stories for the Railyard Dawgs.

Wilkes completed his undergraduate work at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, receiving a Bachelor's degree in Sports Media and Analytics. Wilkes recently received his Master's in Business Administration (MBA) from Carson-Newman.
