MARYVILLE, Tenn. - The Brevard College men's soccer team (0-1) dropped a 3-0 decision to Berry College (1-0) on Friday evening at the Maryville Kickoff Classic in Maryville, Tennessee.
The Vikings found the back of the net three times in the second half after neither side mustered a goal through the first 45 minutes of play. Berry's Jack Raulston scored off a Davis Regier assist in the 50th minute, followed by a Raulston goal via penalty kick in the 57th minute of action.
Brevard fell down to 10 men after a red card was issued in the 59th minute, forcing the Tornados to play man-down over the final 31:11 of the match. Berry was able to capitalize in the 80th minute as Daniel Osho found the netting to put the match out of reach, as the Vikings took the season opener.
Berry held a commanding 15-5 shot advantage, including a 7-to-1 mark in shots that found the target. Manuel Tovar Hagstrom got the start and made three saves in his Tornado debut, while his counterpart Gabriel Soderqvist made a save in five minutes of work.
Several new faces highlighted BC's first match of the 2025 season. Roi Abutbul, Tristan Bayssade, Will Finney, Brandon King, Tovar Hagstrom, Eddie Turberville, and Lucas Schuitema all made their first career starts for BC, while 13 Tornados made their debuts as substitutes.
Brevard concludes the Maryville Kickoff Classic on Sunday, facing host Maryville College at 2 p.m.
