Tornados Improve to 4-0 vs. Warren Wilson

Box Score

SWANNANOA, N.C. - The Brevard College volleyball team (2-9) swept Warren Wilson College (1-9), 3-0 (25-13, 25-16, 25-20) on Wednesday evening at the Devries Athletics Center. The victory halted a five-match slide for the Tornados, who defeat WWC for the fourth time in a row .

Freshman duo of Abigail Kelly (11 kills) and Malahna Hoyle (10 kills) helped lead the attack for the Tornados, with Caroline Moon (five kills) and Jaxson Tumicki (five kills) also putting up heavy offensive numbers. The Tornados as a whole registered 37 kills and benefited off 20 attack errors from the Owls.

Making her sixth appearance of the season, freshman setter Madison Warren distributed 11 assists, registered 12 digs digs defensively for a double-double, and served up three aces. Sophomore setter Izzy Boulay dished out 13 dimes, and 11 different Tornados saw action on the hardwood.

Warren Wilson was led by KJ Helinsky, who totaled a double-double with 13 kills and 13 digs. Alaina Castengera had a game-high 22 assists, while Ryanne Dotson totaled seven kills and 11 digs.

WWC jumped to an early 4-2 lead in the first set, but from that point on BC dominated, scoring 23 of the final 32 points with a 23-to-9 scoring stretch to defeat the Owls in dominant fashion, 25-13.

The hosts held the lead throughout the early stages of the second set, but with the Tornados down by two points at 16-14, BC rallied with 11 unanswered points. During that massive scoring run, Kelly and Mary Vallentine each registered kills, and Warren finished the set win off with a service ace.

WWC once again led midway through the third stanza, building its advantage to as many as five points at 15-10. However, Brevard once again flipped the script, outpacing the Owls 10-to-5 down the stretch for the five-point, match-clinching 25-20 triumph.

Brevard hits the road for its first USA South Conference tri-match of 2025, as the Tornados trek to Fayetteville, North Carolina to face Methodist (12 p.m.) and Mary Baldwin (2 p.m.) on Saturday.
