First Conference Win of 2025 Comes with Sweep of Mary Baldwin

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – The Brevard College volleyball team (3-10, 1-1 USA South) opened USA South Conference play with a tri-match split Saturday afternoon, falling to Methodist (6-8, 1-1) before sweeping Mary Baldwin (5-5, 0-1).

Methodist 3, Brevard 0 (25-17, 25-17, 25-16)

Methodist controlled the first two sets wire-to-wire with identical 25-17 wins. In the third, a late five-point run helped the Monarchs finish the sweep with a 25-16 victory.

Caroline Moon and Jaxson Tumicki paced Brevard with seven kills apiece, while Emma Fontana recorded three service aces. Addison Johnson tallied 14 kills and Savannah Hovander added 11 to lead the Monarchs.

Brevard 3, Mary Baldwin 0 (25-18, 25-13, 25-12)

Mary Baldwin jumped out to a 4-0 start in the first set and built a six-point lead before a five-point Brevard run swung momentum. The Tornados pulled away for a 25-18 opening win.

Brevard never trailed in the second, building an 11-point cushion en route to a 25-13 decision. The Tornados then scored nine of the first 10 points in the third and cruised to a 25-12 victory to clinch the sweep.
