BREVARD, N.C. - The Brevard College volleyball team (3-11, 1-2 USAS) fell 3-0 (25-16, 25-20, 25-17) to Greensboro College (8-2, 4-0 USAS) on Wednesday evening at the Boshamer Gymnasium in BC's USA South Conference home opener.
Jaxson Tumicki registered a season-best nine kills, with Emma Fontana driving home seven kills and the trio of Abigail Kelly, Caroline Moon, and Madison Warren tallying five apiece. Izzy Boulay totaled 19 assists with Warren rotating in for 12 dimes, while Lili White (16 digs) and Kelly (10 digs) led BC's defense.
Payton Shiflet led the Pride offense with 11 kills, Jaylyn Templeton distributed 28 assists, and Morgan Mayfield logged 15 digs.
Greensboro opened up a 14-7 lead in the first set before cruising to a nine-point triumph in the first stanza, 25-16. BC kept things tight in set number two, trailing by just two points at 21-19 late before a 4-1 GC scoring run gave the Pride the five-point set victory. The visitors opened the decisive third set on an 10-2 scoring run and carried that momentum towards an eight-point victory, 25-17.
The Tornados are back at The Bosh next Tuesday, September 30 at 6 p.m., playing host to Pfeiffer University in more league play.
