Barton Scores Twice for Second-Straight Game

HARRISONBURG, Va. - The Brevard College women's soccer team (2-0-0) handled Eastern Mennonite University (1-2-1) 4-0 in a Sunday afternoon matinee in Harrisonburg, Virginia.

Catie Barton, a sophomore forward from Fletcher, North Carolina, scored a pair of goals in the second half. This marked the second-straight match that Barton has scored a pair of goals. Sophomore midfielder Brennan Howell distributed a career-high two assists, while sophomore Kinlee Mozley and senior Mikayla Zvekan also etched their names into the scoring column.

Mikayla Rubin dished out her third assist of the young season, and senior goalkeeper Nico Arroyo held the Royals out of goal throughout the contest, recording a combined shutout with fellow senior Mackenzie Lozano

Brevard peppered several shots on target through the early stages of the first half. Sienna Fox and Carissa Jenkins each took shots on target, while the Tornados ripped a total of six shots through the first 30 minutes.

Howell found Zvekan for a goal, Zvekan's fourth of the season, to break the stalemate in the 35th minute and give the Tornados the one-goal lead.

Brevard held a 10-to-3 shot advantage in the first half, while Arroyo made a save on EMU's lone on-target shot attempt.

Barton doubled BC's lead in the 50th minute of play, as Howell recorded her second assist of the afternoon to put the Tornados up by two on the Royals.

Barton scored her fourth goal of the season, this time off an assist by Mikayla Rubin, just under five minutes later in the 55th minute, as BC took firm control of the match.

In the 83rd minute, Kinlee Mozley got on the scoresheet with her fourth goal of the season, pushing the Tornados lead to a four-goal margin.
