BREVARD, N.C. - Sophomore guard Twain Wilson poured in 22 points as the Brevard College men's basketball team (7-9, 1-5 USA South) picked up its first USA South Conference victory of 2025-26 with a 68-59 triumph over William Peace (6-10, 0-5 USAS) on Saturday afternoon at the Boshamer Gymnasium.
Wilson, a second-year Tornado from Columbia, S.C. by way of Leilehua HS in Hawaii, notched his fourth 20-plus point performance of the season, going 9-of-15 from the field and 4-of-8 from beyond the arc.
Sophomore guard Tyler Baldwin led the bench with 13 points, going 7 of-8 at the free throw line canning some critical attempts down the stretch. Senior guard KK Horton finished with 10 points and five assists, while Dre'Shaun Brown grabbed a team-best six boards.
Peace had three scorers in double figures, as Parker Hodgson (14 points), Shawn Jones (14 points), and Sully Caruso (11 points) led the Pacers.
BC's defense held WPU to a 39% mark from the field and just five 3-pointers compared to nine long-distance buckets from the Tornados. Brevard created havoc on the defensive end, forcing Peace into 16 turnovers with 22 points off those miscues.
The Tornados built up a nine-point lead with seven minutes to go, 23-14, in the low-scoring first half. The Pacers responded with a 11-5 stretch that trimmed the deficit to three points at intermission, 28-25.
Both sides went back and forth early in the second half, with Peace taking a four-point lead three minutes in. Brevard responded with a 15-2 scoring stretch, as the Tornados led by as many as 17 and put the game out of reach, closing it out with a nine-point decision.
Brevard hits the road for non-conference action on Tuesday, Jan. 20 at 7 p.m. vs. JWU Charlotte.
