LEXINGTON, Va. - Brevard College senior forward Jadon Carnes became the sixth Tornado men's basketball student-athlete of the NCAA era to eclipse 1,000 career points all in a BC uniform, as the Tornados (6-6, 0-2 USA South) dropped a USA South Conference bout 89-69 to Southern Virginia (6-6, 2-0 USAS) on Tuesday afternoon at Duchossois Athletic & Recreation Center.
The Knights used a late run in the first half of play to open up a double-digit lead, 48-37, and the Torndos were unable to draw closer than eight points as SVU finished off the conference victory.
Carnes matched his career-high set his freshman season vs. Mary Baldwin (Jan. 28, 2023) with 25 points on 10-of-14 shooting against the Knights, drilling four 3-point baskets. The senior also distributed a team-best five assists to lead all Tornados. KK Horton added 11 points and four assists, while Khalil Black chipped in eight points and four rebounds off the bench.
Southern Virginia was paced by 21 points from DJ Green, who drained five 3-pointers and grabbed nine boards. Austin Mitchell (12 points) and Hyrum McConkie (10 points) both joined Green in double figures, as the Knights shot 60% from the field and hit eight threes.
With the 25-point performance, Carnes becomes the sixth Tornado of the NCAA era to reach 1,000 career points all in a Tornado uniform.

The Tornado hit the road this coming weekend for a pair of USA South matchups at Methodist (Saturday 1/10, 4:30 p.m., Fayetteville, N.C.) and at NC Wesleyan (Sunday 1/11, 2 p.m., Rocky Mount, N.C.).
