RALEIGH, N.C. - The Brevard College men's basketball team (9-14, 2-10 USA South) fell 76-68 on the road at William Peace (9-14, 3-9 USAS) on Saturday afternoon at the Hermann Athletic Center.
Senior guard KK Horton paced the Tornados with a 21-point performance, his second 20-plus point effort in the last four games. The Asheville, N.C. native made three 3-pointers and totaled four rebounds and four assists. Fellow senior Jadon Carnes joined Horton in double figures with 17 points on 6-of-10 shooting with two made 3-pointers.
Peace's signature performance came from Chuks Ezeonu, shooting 7-of-8 from the field with five made free throws for 19 points off the bench. Parker Hodgson grabbed 11 rebounds, and the duo of Shawn Jones (15 points) and Elijah Cathcart (14 points) both reached double-digit scoring totals.
Brevard scored the first point of the game, but the Pacers were able to take and control the lead through the rest of the first half of action. After the first 20 minutes, Peace held a double-digit lead, 37-25.
BC stormed back in the second half, trimming the deficit all the way down to one possession, 46-43 seven minutes into the second stanza. The Pacers responded, however, holding a double digit margin most of the rest of the way. Brevard got within six, 74-68, with 38 seconds to play, but Peace closed the door on the game with a pair of made free throws.
Brevard is back home on Tuesday, Feb. 17 at 7 p.m., facing off against Greensboro at The Bosh.
