Murray Stops 29 Shots, Tornados Battle Wildcats on the Road

Second-Most Saves in Program History

LYNCHBURG, Va. - Brevard College sophomore goalkeeper Jameson Murray matched the second-most saves in a single game in program history with 29, as the BC men's lacrosse team (0-3) battled in a 15-8 defeat on the road at Randolph (1-1) on Saturday afternoon.

Murray, a second-year Tornado from Charleston, S.C., kept the Tornados within striking distance all afternoon with his 29 saves in just his third collegiate start. The Tornados as a team made 32 total saves, with three team saves in addition to Murray's 29 to set a new single-game high as a defensive unit.

On the offensive end, Jospeh Piazza surged for a career-best four goals, while Gage Khayat adding two and Colin Eifler recording a season-best three points on two goals and an assist. Max Dorman grabbed two ground balls and caused a pair of turnovers, while Logan Southern secured eight faceoff wins.

The Tornados kept things close despite Randolph outshooting Brevard 65-19. Randolph found a difference on the power play, converting three of its four attempts compared to an 0-for-5 mark by BC.

Khayat and Eifler matched the first three scores by the Wildcats of the afternoon before Piazza's first goal of the day put the Tornados up 4-3, marking BC's first lead of 2026. Following another Randolph goal, Eifler scored his second goal of the contest to push BC back up by a goal, 5-4, at the 6:22 mark in the second quarter. Randolph put in three straight scores to close out the first half, giving the hosts a two-goal edge.

Following nearly seven scoreless minutes, Piazza found the back of the net once more, trimming the margin back down to one goal, 7-6. Randolph was able to pull away, however, using an 8-0 scoring run to put things out of reach.

Brevard next competes against Mount Vernon Nazarene on Thursday, Feb. 26 at 5 p.m. at Ives-Lemel Family Field.
