LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN, Ga. - The Brevard College softball team (3-1) shut out Covenant (4-8), securing its third win of 2026 with a 2-0 victory. The Scots answered back, using a middle-inning rally to defeat BC in the second game of the doubleheader, 7-4.
GAME ONE: BREVARD 2, COVENANT 0
Senior pitcher Elizabeth Auciello (2-0) secured her second complete-game performance in as many starts, this time with a seven-inning CG shutout. The second-year Tornado did not walk a single batter and struck out three Scots to secure the winning effort. Auciello and the Tornado defense kept Covenant in check, stranding all three runners that got into scoring position.
Freshman outfielder Emily Hill delivered an RBI triple in the top of the fifth that plated Hayden Moody to break up the scoreless stalemate. Andrea Furr tacked on an insurance run in the top of the sixth, singling home Regan Winkler. Those two runs were all that Auciello would need to wrap up the shutout win.
Hill and Furr each had two-hit performances, with the Tornados tallying four extra-base knocks in game one.
GAME TWO: COVENANT 7, BREVARD 4
Brevard got off to a very hot start in the second game of the afternoon, as Addison Smith slugged her second home run of the season, followed by a two-RBI single by Ann Graves that scored Rylee Locklear and Winkler.
Covenant began their middle-inning rally with a score in the third before tying the contest with two runs in the fourth. A four-run fifth put the Scots over the top, and although the Tornados managed a run in the top of the seventh, the hosts were able to put the win away.
Winkler led the charge for the Tornados in game two with three base hits, including two doubles. Alyssa Boris also tallied an extra-base knock as well for BC.
The Tornados return to action on Wednesday at 3 p.m., facing Maryville in a doubleheader.
