Brevard Denied by Greensboro in Overtime

GREENSBORO, N.C. - A hotly-contested matchup that featured 10 tied scores and 11 lead changes resulted in overtime after the Brevard College men's basketball team (8-12, 1-8 USA South) and Greensboro (8-11, 4-4 USAS) finished regulation tied at 82-82. The Pride pulled away in the extra period, outscoring the Tornados 14-8 to secure the 96-90 league win.

The Tornados, who led by as many as eight in the second half, took a two-point lead after Jadon Carnes drained a 3-pointer with 1:12 left to play. BC's lead extended out to four after two made Twain Wilson free throws at the 52 second mark, but a Greensboro jumper and dunk sent the contest to overtime. In the extra stanza, the Pride shot 57% from the field and hit five of their six free throw attempts to take the six-point win.

Brevard fell despite outshooting the Pride from the field, as BC hit its field goal attempts at a 52% clip compared to 48% from Greensboro. GC hit its attempts at a 58% mark in the second half, however, and the hosts turned 14 offensive boards into 22 second-chance points. GC edged the Tornados in the paint, 58-46, and turned 13 Brevard turnovers into 14 points off turnovers.

Twain Wilson (23 points), Jadon Carnes (23 points), and KK Horton (22 points) led the charge for the Tornados, combining for 68 of BC's 90 points in the contest. Horton distributed a team-best seven assists, while Carnes and Wilson each grabbed six boards. Wilson dished out five assists with Carnes adding four, and Dre'Shaun Brown put up 12 points and nine rebounds.

A dominant performance from GC's Jeremiah Howard put Greensboro in position to take the win, as the forward posted 24 points and 16 rebounds as one of five Greensboro scorers in double figures.

Brevard returns to play on Saturday at 2 p.m. as BC hosts Methodist at The Bosh.
