GROTTOES, Va. - Brevard College baseball (12-6, 2-1 USA South)rallied late but came up just short in a 13-12 loss to Mary Baldwin (3-12, 1-2 USAS) on Sunday afternoon.

The Tornados totaled 10 hits and scored in six different innings, highlighted by a three-run eighth that pulled Brevard within two runs.
Bryson Genwright ignited the rally with a solo home run to center field before RBIs from
Davis Anders and
Gavin McCoy trimmed the margin to 13-12.

Brevard jumped on the board in the second inning when
Tyson Hinkle stole home, then added single runs in the third and sixth innings. A three-run fourth, keyed by a two-run single from
Gavin Grant and an RBI groundout by
Moe Love Jr., gave the Tornados a 5-2 lead before Mary Baldwin answered with three runs in the bottom half.

The teams traded runs throughout the middle innings as Brevard reclaimed the lead with a two-run fifth on an RBI single by Hinkle and a sacrifice fly from
Kacey Shanks. Anders continued his big day at the plate with RBI doubles in the third, sixth and eighth innings, finishing 3-for-5 with three RBIs.

Mary Baldwin seized control in the seventh, capitalizing on defensive miscues and delivering a three-run double from Patrick Sido to open a 13-8 advantage. Brevard made one final push in the eighth but was unable to complete the comeback.

Genwright went 2-for-5 with two runs scored and a home run, while
Gavin McCoy added two hits, two runs and an RBI. Grant drove in two runs and scored once for the Tornados.
