NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The Brevard College softball team (8-8) competed in six total contests at the 2026 Fastpitch Dreams Spring Classic in North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina over the course of Spring Break.
The Tornados began the event on Thursday, March 12 by splitting a pair of tight games against Penn State Scranton (W, 6-5) and Penn State DuBois (L, 5-4) before securing a run-rule victory over Valley Forge on Friday, March 13, 11-2. Brevard closed day two out with a tight battle, falling 2-0 to Vermont State Castleton, and dropped two contests on Saturday, March 14 to Rochester Christian (L, 9-4), and The College of New Jersey (L, 9-0).
Brevard opened the tournament with a 6-5 win over Penn State Scranton, scoring early and holding off a late rally. The Tornados plated three runs in the first inning and added single runs in the second and fifth to build a 6-3 advantage. Penn State Scranton pushed across two runs in the seventh, but Brevard pitcher
Megan Bint worked out of trouble to secure the complete-game win. Bint scattered eight hits and allowed two earned runs, while
Anna Graves and
Emma Payne each recorded two hits.
Regan Winkler and
Andrea Furr drove in runs during the opening frame to set the tone offensively.
Later that day, Brevard dropped a tightly contested 5-4 extra-inning decision to Penn State DuBois. The Tornados rallied with two runs in the fourth inning to take a brief lead and tied the game in the seventh on an RBI single by
Alyssa Boris. However, Penn State DuBois pushed across the winning run in the bottom of the eighth. Brevard finished with nine hits in the game, led by Boris, who went 3-for-3 with an RBI, and
Rylee Locklear, who collected two hits.
Elizabeth Auciello struck out six in 7 2/3 innings in the circle.
Brevard opened day two on a high note with an 11-2, five-inning win over Valley Forge. The Tornados erupted for seven runs in the first two innings and never looked back, finishing with 15 hits and seven stolen bases.
Rylee Locklear went 3-for-3 with four RBIs, while
Addie MacDougall and
Addison Smith each scored three runs. Smith added three hits, including a pair of triples.
Victoria Phagan earned the win, striking out seven and allowing just four hits.
The Tornados were held scoreless in a 2-0 loss to Vermont State Castleton despite solid pitching and six hits at the plate. Brevard threatened early, placing runners in scoring position in the second and fourth innings, but Castleton pitcher Madison Gould worked out of trouble each time. Castleton broke through in the third inning with a pair of RBI singles and made the runs stand.
Emily Husband allowed just two earned runs on seven hits while striking out two in a complete-game effort for the Tornados.
Brevard opened the final day of action against Rochester Christian in a back-and-forth contest that saw both teams score three runs in the first inning.
Regan Winkler delivered a two-run double in the opening frame, and
Andrea Furr followed with an RBI single to knot the game at 3-3. The Tornados took a brief lead in the third when
Rylee Locklear scored on a wild pitch, but Rochester Christian answered with five runs over the fourth and fifth innings to regain control. Winkler finished 2-for-4 with two RBIs, while Furr added two hits. Brevard was limited to seven hits and was undone by defensive miscues, falling 9-4.
The Spring Classic concluded later that day with a 9-0 setback against TCNJ. The Lions scored in every inning but one, using speed on the bases and timely hitting to pull away early. Brevard managed just two hits in the game, both singles by
Hayden Moody, as TCNJ pitcher Elizabeth Gosse tossed a complete-game shutout.
Emily Husband worked all seven innings in the circle for Brevard, striking out two.
