SALISBURY, N.C. – Brevard continued its outdoor season at the 2026 Quanera Hayes Blue Bear Invitational, building momentum with a solid performance on Saturday in Salisbury.
In the track events, the Tornados started in the men's 100m. Zyrell Abercrombie led BC with an 11.65 mark in 22nd, followed by Jeffrey McDougald in 28th at 11.89. Tyrell Bailey placed 31st at 12.06, Develle Morgan in 32nd at 12.07, Ty Breeze in 34th at 12.29, and Courtney Hamlin in 39th at 12.82 to round out the Tornados.
In the women's 100m, Makynna McDonald impressed with a ninth-place finish at 12.43. Akeelah Hurley finished 19th at 13.03, and Serenity Jordan recorded a personal best 13.05, placing 20th. Imani Singleton rounded out BC in the event, placing 25th at 13.57.
In the women's 100m hurdles, Elizabeth Foster led BC in 12th at 17.71. Katie Woody followed in 15th at 19.28.
Zyrell Abercrombie recorded a personal best in the men's 200m, placing 27th at 23.68. Jeffrey McDougald shortly followed in 34th at 24.49. On the women's side, Makynna McDonald also recorded a personal best, finishing 11th at 25.95. Serenity Jordan came in 19th at 27.14, shortly followed by Akeelah Hurley, placing 21st at 27.21. Imani Singleton placed 23rd at 27.76.
Two Tornado freshmen competed in the men's 400m, with Tyrell Bailey placing 26th at 53.96 and Ty Breeze in 30th at 57.76. In the women's 800m, Molly Perry logged a personal best, placing tenth at 2:40.66.
Shifting to the field events, Antonio King placed first in the men's discus at 42.80m, joined by Cameron Eubanks in the top-five, placing fourth at 41.26m. Henry Tarte (36.70m) and Donningtun Walters (32.40m) both finished in the top-ten, finishing seventh and tenth, respectively. In the women's discus, Tori Gates led the Tornados in 16th at 23.95m, followed by Anne Herring who recorded a personal best 18.72m, finishing 20th.
Develle Morgan, the lone competitor for BC in the men's javelin, placed sixth at 33.04m. Katie Woody finished tenth on the women's side at 22.97m.
The Tornados placed three in the top-five in the men's shot put, led by Cameron Eubanks in third at 14.44m. Noah Westbrook (14.37m) followed in fourth, and Donningtun Walters (13.14m) finished fifth. Anne Herring finished 14th on the women's side at 9.09m, followed by Tori Gates in 19th at 7.71m.
BC concluded the weekend in the women's 4x100m relay, with the team of Akeelah Hurley, Makynna McDonald, Serenity Jordan, and Imani Singleton finishing fourth at 50.09.
Following another productive weekend, the Tornados will prepare for their home meet in the Third Annual Tornado Classic at Frank Patton Track on Friday, April 3rd.
