Superb Senior Day Triumph for Brevard College Women’s Lacrosse

Four Tornados Honored for Senior Day; Xan Hill Scores Career-High Eight Goals

BREVARD, N.C. – The Brevard College women's lacrosse team (3-6, 2-3 USA South) put forth an all-around dominant performance as the Tornados delivered in a 15-3 victory over William Peace (0-8, 0-5 USAS) on Senior Day Saturday at Ives-Lemel Family Field.

Before the first draw, BC's senior class of Amanda Barnes, Emma Demcovich, Xan Hill, and Delaina Smallwood were honored in a special pregame ceremony at midfield, joined by Interim Head Coach Kristin Rosato, Assistant Coach Cassidy Hutto, and Faculty Athletics Representative Michael Moreschi.

Hill put on an individual showcase on Senior Day, scoring a career-high eight goals and securing a career-best 10 draw controls to lead the way for the Tornado offense that put a season-high 15 goals into the back of the cage. Arianna Casertano added a hat trick with three goals and two assists, while Sofia Hardin scored twice with an assist for three points. Madi Norris found the back of the net once and distributed two assists, and Demcovich scored for the first time in her collegiate career on a free-position goal.

Defensively, Hardin and Natalie Lopez Velez each caused three turnovers, with Hill and Jordan Frenette adding a pair apiece. Lopez Velez controlled a team-best five ground balls, while Kyla Smith-Fondall saved six total shots while limiting the Peace opportunities on goal.

Hill found the net 20 seconds into the contest, and scored again with 39 seconds left in the first period as the Tornados took the early 2-0 edge through one quarter. Hill then fired two quick goals into the back of the net at the start of the second quarter, and capped her 60- scoring run with a pair in the middle of the stanza.

The Pacers took advantage of a power play chance at the 4:40 mark in the second quarter, scoring their first goal of the afternoon, but Hardin and Hill scored once each to make it an 8-2 halftime score in favor of Brevard.

Peace got on the board first in the second half, but Casertano scored her first goal of the game at the 8:55 mark in the third period to push BC's lead to six. Hill's career-high eighth goal of the game put BC up by seven, 10-3, and Casertano capped the third quarter scoring off with her second goal of the afternoon.

Consecutive strikes by Hardin and Casertano put BC over the 10-goal threshold, 13-3, and with 6:07 left to play, Demcovich drew a foul and converted the free-position goal. Norris converted an assist by Casertano to cap off the Tornado scoring, as Brevard wrapped up its 12-goal Senior Day win.

The victory marked the first in the return of Coach Rosato, who is serving on an interim basis for the remainder of the 2026 campaign.

BC will compete in the Ridge Rivalry on Wednesday, April 1, at 5 p.m. in Swannanoa, North Carolina, vs. Warren Wilson.
