ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. - Brevard College baseball (14-11, 3-6 USA South) gained a two-run lead in the top of the sixth to N.C. Wesleyan (8-16, 5-4 USAS), but the Battling Bishops tied the game with two runs in the eighth and finished off a marathon win with an 11th inning walk-off double to defeat BC 9-8 and finish off the sweep at Bauer Field on Sunday. 

Trailing by two, 6-4 in the middle innings, BC put up a four spot in the top of the sixth, scoring on an error, a wild pitch, and two bases-loaded walks to take the lead, 8-6. The Battling Bishops responded in the bottom of the eighth, pushing a pair of RBI singles up the middle, including one with two outs, to tie the ballgame up at eight runs apiece. 

BC went down 1-2-3 in the top of the ninth, and NC Wesleyan failed to score in the bottom of the frame to send the contest to extras. NCWU sat the Tornados down in order in the 10th and the 11th, while the Battling Bishops nearly walked it off in the bottom of the 10th. Following two quick outs in the bottom of the 11th, Malachi Hayes reached on a single, and was brought around by Schumata Brown's game-winning RBI double that clinched the sweep for NC Wesleyan. 

Nico Bartolotti led all Tornados with a 3-for-5 effort, while Davis Anders recorded two hits including a double. On the pitching front, Gage Granata and Aaron Burchett both worked scoreless outings. 

BC next visits Toccoa Falls for a midweek on Tuesday at 2 p.m. in Toccoa, Georgia.
