STAUNTON, Va. - The Brevard College men's soccer team (6-1, 1-0 USA South) used a pair of second-half goals to defeat Mary Baldwin (3-4-1, 0-1-0 USAS), 2-0 on Saturday at SMA Worth Field.
After a scoreless first half in which Soren Deweer (6-1-0) made four saves, Eran Nasseraldeen got on the scoresheet in the 55th minute, finishing off a pass from Vitor Razera for his first goal as a member of the Tornados.
Nearly 20 minutes later in the 74th minute, German Garcia scored his third goal of the season off assists from Roi Abutbul and Guilherme Barcelos, providing the Tornados with all the insurance they would need in the two-goal shutout victory.
BC held a two-shot advantage in the first half, 7-5, but turned the heat up in the second half, outshooting the Fighting Squirrels 14-4 for a 21-9 edge in the match.
Brevard dominated possession, winning 10 corner kick attempts, as Deweer and the Tornado defense kept its second clean sheet in the last three matches played.
USA South Conference action rolls on for BC on Wednesday, Sept. 30 at 7 p.m. as the Tornados return home to face Greensboro.
