BREVARD, N.C. – Catie Barton scored her first goal of 2026 in the 30
th minute, while the Brevard College defense recorded its sixth shutout of the season as the Tornados (6-0-2, 3-0-0 USA South) notched a 1-0 victory over Methodist (3-4-0, 1-2-0 USAS) on Saturday at Ives-Lemel Family Field.
Brevard's victory extends the program's unbeaten streak in regular season matches to 44, dating back to Oct. 14, 2023. The Tornados remain unbeaten at home since Oct. 18, 2022, a stretch of 35 consecutive matches.
Barton, a junior forward from nearby Fletcher, N.C., converted on a pass from
Maddy Loranger for the game's only strike. Loranger beat her defender on the near side and placed a low cross right in front of the goal that Barton was able to tap in on the near side. The dish marked the first assist of Loranger's collegiate career.
Brevard dominated possession throughout the match, tallying 22 shots to Methodist's two. BC's defense continued its stellar work this season, notching its sixth shutout.
Abby Nunez saved the lone shot on goal that she faced.
The Tornados compete in non-conference action on Tuesday, Sept. 29 at 2 p.m. vs. Sewanee at home.
