BREVARD, N.C. – The Brevard College volleyball team (6-8, 3-1 USA South) suffered its first USA South Conference loss of 2026, falling 3-1 (25-23, 22-25, 25-16, 25-15) to Salem College (13-3, 4-1 USAS) on Wednesday evening at the Boshamer Gymnasium.
Both sides battled in a tight first set, with Salem coming out on top by two, 25-23. Brevard responded with a three-point triumph in the second set, 25-22, but Salem used a nine-point win in set three and a 10-point victory in set four to earn the conference win.
Caroline Moon notched a double-double, driving home 17 kills while adding 13 digs on the defensive end.
Emma Fontana added 11 kills and totaled three solo blocks.
Rowan Raney also stuffed the stat sheet with eight kills and 13 digs.
Izzy Boulay (21 assists) and
Madison Warren (17 assists) facilitated the offense, with Boulay adding 12 digs for a double-double, and
Gianna Borcich recording a team-best 14 digs.
Ellie Scherer led Sale with 19 kills, followed by Ariana Noplos (13 kills) and Leah Rymer (10 kills). Rymer notched a triple-double with 28 assists and 18 digs, while Jolina Bun distributed 20 assists as well.
BC will head to Fayetteville, North Carolina for a USA South tri-match, facing Methodist at 12 p.m. and Mary Baldwin at 2 p.m. on Friday.
