WINGATE, N.C.- The Brevard College women's soccer team dropped a 3-0 decision at Wingate in a South Atlantic Conference match in Wingate, N.C. Saturday afternoon.
The Bulldogs (8-1-3, 5-1-1 SAC) remained impressive while picking up their fifth conference win while the Tornados (3-7-1, 0-5-1 SAC) welcomed back Althea Dunn, but extended their winless streak to eight matches.
Neither team managed to score in the first 45 minutes as the Bulldogs held an 11-1 shot advantage.
In the 58th minute, Wingate drew first blood when Chandler Murphy scored on a header into the corner after receiving a pass from Jade Montgomery.
Wingate struck again in the 64th minute when Naomi Matley snuck a shot past BC netminder Brittany Webster while Taryn Grivois gathered the assist.
Wingate's Montgomery netted her 10th goal on the season in the 72nd minute when she collected a loose ball in front of the net and scored to make it a 3-0 match.
Webster finished the evening with six saves while the Bulldogs Ashlyn Ardie and Lauren Schoonover split time to produce the clean slate. Wingate held a distinct advantage in shots, 33-5, including 22 in the second half.
Montgomery paced both squads with 10 shots while Yuki Soga and Clair Deese racked up two apiece for the Tornados.
The Tornados take a break from conference play when they travel to Misenheimer, N.C. to battle Pfeiffer Wednesday at 1 p.m..
