MIDDLESBORO, Ky.- The Brevard College softball team fell 17-7 to the Carson-Newman Eagles in an elimination game of the Food Lion South Atlantic Conference tournament at Middlesboro High School on Friday afternoon, despite scoring seven runs over their final three at-bats.

BC got on the board in the 4th with a two-run Emily Boykin double to right before BC's Dallas Heaton and Kinsey Parrish hit back-to-back homers in the 5th. Heaton's shot was a grand slam that made it 14-6 before Parrish poked a solo homer to center.

The Eagles, however, posted three runs in the top of the 6th to bring the run rule back into effect. C-N's Brittany Heffner dealt the blow with a three-run homer to left.

Carson-Newman scored nine runs against BC starter Jamie Hrobak (L, 16-10) in just 1.2 innings, knocking the sophomore from the game in favor of Alyssa Miller. The Eagles connected for 20 hits on the afternoon.

All four of Brevard's seniors, Boykin, Miller, Ally Davenport and Brittany Fowler, reached base safely in their final game for the Tornados. Miller and Davenport both had a pair of hits while Boykin plated a run with her double and Fowler scored on the Heaton grand slam.

The Tornados finish the season 22-25 overall, with an 11-11 mark in conference play.
