CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Brevard College women's soccer team suffered a 3-0 loss to Queens University on Saturday night in South Atlantic Conference (SAC) action at Queens Sports Complex. With the loss, the Tornados fall to 2-4 overall and 0-2 in the SAC while the Royals improve to 2-5 overall and 1-1 in conference play.

After neither team could really get a good scoring opportunity, Queens got on the board with just under three minutes remaining in the first half. Sydney Michelin sent a low cross into the middle of the box and Brenna Kate Grass tapped the ball in by BC keeper Jocelyn Springer to give the Royals a 1-0 lead.

The Royals tacked on a second goal just 4:54 into the second stanza as Mary Pritts found a loose ball in front of the net and took a 2-0 advantage. Queens continued to add pressure and scored again in the 56th minute on a goal by Alana Jefferson as Ashley Osiecki picked up an assist.

The Tornados had a late chance to get on the scoreboard in the last 3:37 of the match but Anita Maryskova's shot was turned away by Tori Danchak and Sara Fonger's shot following a BC corner kick went wide of the net in the 87th minute.

Springer made seven saves in net, including five in the second half for the Tornados. Danchak turned away two BC shots. Maryskova had two shots for the Tornados with one landing on target while Sydney Alencewicz, Katlin Burns, and Fonger each had had a shot.

BC returns to action on Wednesday, September 24 as it hosts Newberry College at Brevard Soccer Field in Brevard, North Carolina. The start time is set for 4 p.m.
